O’Connor offers patients the latest in cervical spine surgery technology with the Mobi-C® Cervical Disc, the only cervical disc approved by the FDA to treat more than one disc level. Patients who suffer from two-level cervical disease now have a superior, less-invasive treatment option to traditional cervical spinal fusion, allowing not only pain relief but also improved function and mobility.
Our Surgery Department uses the advanced O-arm Intra-operative Imaging System. This complete multi-dimensional system brings imaging during surgery to a new level. It is a vital tool for our surgeons during both minimally invasive and traditional open spine surgical procedures. Improved imaging provided by the system makes it possible to perform complex and delicate spine procedures with even greater precision.

The LUNA laser system has become an invaluable tool that helps our physicians diagnose and treat slow-healing wounds. The device allows physicians to view, in real time, blood flow in a wound area, thus enabling better-informed decisions regarding care options. A screen also faces the patient so that he or she can better understand the physician’s analysis of the wound and suggested treatment plan.
Another advanced technology being used throughout the hospital, is TRU-D SmartUVCTMa 5-foot-5 disinfection robot that uses powerful ultraviolet light to kill harmful pathogens, including viruses, bacteria and fungi. TRU-D protects the integrity of our clinical environment and, ultimately, the level of care delivered to every patient who walks through the door.
O’Connor Hospital is the first hospital in Silicon Valley to offer patients an FDA-approved implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) system for use with MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) scans. Patients with ICDs have not been able to receive MRI scans due to potential risks between the MRI and the device function. Many patients rely on ICDs to detect irregular heartbeats and deliver life-saving therapy to restore a normal heartbeat and now these patients will have access to MRI scans if needed.
Bronchial thermoplasty helps patients who suffer from severe asthma. This outpatient procedure helps adult patients who are still symptomatic despite the use of their daily medications and inhalers. Bronchial thermoplasty improves quality of life by reducing asthma attacks, emergency room visits or hospitalization for respiratory symptoms, and days lost from work, school or other activities due to asthma.
