PEDIATRICS

overview

O’Connor Hospital has served as a community hospital caring for children for more than 130 years. In collaboration with community pediatricians, pediatric hospitalists, and neonatologists, the Pediatrics Department provides quality care in general inpatient pediatrics, well newborn care, neonatal intensive care, and outpatient pediatric urgent care. Our staff provides the best possible care for all children.

The third floor of the main hospital is dedicated to caring for newborns, children, and adolescents. Inpatient Pediatrics includes a 14-bed General Pediatric Unit, a 24-bed mother-baby unit, and a 10-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The Pediatric Unit is accredited by the California Children's Services unit of the California Department of Public Health. All patients are cared for by a multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, therapists, lactation specialists, and social workers.

The 10-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is a Level-III NICU and is accredited by the California Children's Services unit of the California Department of Health Services. Neonatologists staff the unit and are available 24 hours a day.

The outpatient pediatric urgent care is located on the campus next to the hospital. The Pediatric Urgent Care Clinic at O’Connor Hospital provides urgent medical care after your primary care physician’s office is closed, with no appointment needed. The clinic works to provide high quality, personalized pediatric care for infants, children, and adolescents (newborn through 18 years of age). We are privileged to work with community pediatricians and pediatric nurse practitioners who are experts in evaluating and treating children who present with childhood illnesses and injuries.
