PREGNANCY AND PARENTING RESOURCES
We provide comprehensive maternal health & baby education for all patients who deliver at O’Connor Hospital by offering free prenatal classes prior to their baby’s birth. We work closely with hospital nurses and health care providers to ensure that our patients will have a standard education and seamless care.
Classes are offered in multiple languages and are taught by experienced Nurses and Health Educators. We recommend patients sign up for classes as early as 20 weeks of pregnancy. Partners are encouraged to attend.
PREGNANCY & CHILDBIRTH EDUCATION

You’ll talk about possible late-pregnancy issues, signs of labor, stages of labor, relaxation and breathing techniques, comfort measures for labor, partner/support person’s role during labor, pain management techniques for both unmedicated and medicated births, and induction and augmentation of labor methods.
BREASTFEEDING AND NEWBORN CARE
This class is designed to help first-time parents feel more confident about taking care of their new baby. Learn about positions for breastfeeding, achieving a good latch, recognizing feeding cues and knowing if your baby is getting enough to eat. The Lactation Educator will also offer sensible tips on how to hold and calm a fussy baby, diapering, bathing, and when to call your pediatrician.
