Last year, Christina Lopez’s father had routine shoulder surgery at a hospital in Arizona. Shortly after, he suffered a brain aneurism and ended up in the ICU, where he spent his final days. The nurses and physicians took such great care of him and her family, they left a lasting impression on Christina.

Now living in San Jose and attending a Master’s program at San Jose State University, Christina wanted to show her gratitude and appreciation for the hard work ICU staff do every day. Christina, her mother and sorority sisters dropped off goody bags filled with treats for the O’Connor ICU nurses and physicians to help bring smiles to their faces. As she and her family are still grieving from the unexpected loss of her father, she is grateful for nurses and physicians at all hospitals and feels they should be recognized.

“This was important for me to do,” says Christina. “It’s helping me heal to do something nice for those helping other patients and their families.”

Thank you to all the nurses and physicians for the care you give to our patients. Your care helps patients and their families heal and can have lasting influences.
