TRANSCATHETER AORTIC VALVE REPLACEMENT (TAVR)

for patients

A referral directly from your physician is required. Referrals will need to include the following information:

  • Patient Name
  • Patient Date of Birth
  • Reason for Referral (ICD-10 Code if Available)
  • Physician Name
  • Physician Contact Information (Phone/Email)

What to expect:

After we receive a referral from your physician our structural heart nurse coordinator will contact you to explain the workup process, review your history, and learn about your goals of treatments.

Workup will include diagnostic testing to help our team determine what is the best treatment option for every individual.  Our goal is to complete any necessary diagnostic testing in one visit.  However, some procedures may require an additional visit.  Our medical team will determine which diagnostic tests that will need to be completed.

Diagnostic tests include:

  • Laboratory Testing
  • CT Scan
  • Echocardiogram
  • 12 Lead ECG
  • Cardiac Catheterization
  • Pulmonary Function Tests
  • Ultrasound Imaging
  • Functional Testing
  • Cognitive Testing

After your workup is completed our multidisciplinary team will evaluate our findings and create individualized treatment options.

You will meet with both an Interventional Cardiologist and a Cardiothoracic Surgeon to discuss the risks and benefits of the various treatments options, get any questions answered, and determine how you would like to proceed. Our goal is to empower you with the needed information to make the best decision for you and your unique situation.

We will continue to follow your progress for the year following your procedure.
