Acute Care (Inpatient Therapy) Services

At the Outpatient Rehabilitation and Sports Therapy Department, our goal is to help you get back to a healthy and active lifestyle. Our services include physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech and language pathology.


Our physical therapists have extensive training in evaluating and treating both acute and chronic injuries. We use the most advanced methods to help detect and treat factors that contribute to a patient’s injury or condition. Our services include:

Functional Physical Therapy

  • Gait training to restore normal walking patterns
  • Balance training to prevent falls and injury
  • Manual therapy to improve joint and soft tissue length and elasticity
  • Modalities to decrease pain, swelling and muscle spasm
  • Neuromuscular re-education to retrain movement patterns and body balance
  • Progressive home exercise program education
  • Training in proper posture and body mechanics for work, sport, leisure activities and postural dysfunction

Therapeutic Physical Therapy

Our speech-language pathologists have extensive experience in evaluating and treating patients with serious and progressive neurological deficits.   • Dysphagia, a swallowing disorder

Specialized Services for Speech and Swallowing

You can also receive the following specialized services:

  • Video fluoroscopic swallow study (VFSS): A radiology test for people who have swallowing problems.
  • Fiberoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallowing (FEES): Also used for swallowing problems. We insert an endoscope, a small tube with a camera and light attached, through the nose and into the throat.
  • Lee Silverman voice therapy (LSVT) for Parkinson’s disease (PD): Helps improve vocal loudness and voice quality for people with PD, who often have speech and voice disorders.
  • Augmentative communication devices: Help people who have speech problems communicate through technological aides.
  • VitalStim®: Uses electrical stimulation to help people with swallowing problems retrain their muscles
