BARIATRIC AND METABOLIC HEALTH CENTER

NUTRITION COUNSELING

Patients will be given a General Nutrition Assessment with a dietician at least 90 days prior to any bariatric services to assess current food and beverage intake, snack patterns, physical activity, body weight history, lifestyle and beliefs towards food. A strict diet will be prescribed within 24 hours of surgery and may continue for up to five weeks post-surgery. Patients’ diet tolerance and fluid intake will also be regularly assessed post-surgery.

Our nutrition specialists work with patients to help make sustainable changes to their current eating patterns. We will give personalized guidance and tips for lifestyle long term. Patients may also be referred to group education classes to address behavioral issues, nutrition, healthy eating habits and physical activity.
